National Campaign of Caring for Children in Summer Vacation Launched

A national campaign of caring for children in summer vacation was launched in Beijing on July 10. With the theme of Party history learning and children's safety protection, diversified voluntary activities for children will be held across the country.
Shen Yueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), conferred flags on representatives of volunteers at the launch ceremony.
Shen urged the volunteers to implement the spirit of the important speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), actively respond to Xi's call on behalf of the CPC Central Committee, provide more services for people and make more contributions to society.

When visiting a revolutionary memorial hall with children, Shen told them revolutionary stories and stories of heroes along the way. Shen encouraged them to inherit the revolutionary spirit, rise up to be the successors of the Communist cause, and make unremitting efforts to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

During the ceremony, Cai Shumin, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, outlined the information about the campaign. Volunteer and parent representatives expressed their determination and confidence to actively participate in the campaign and protect the healthy and safe growth of children.

Sponsored by the ACWF, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the Ministry of Education and eight other state organs, institutions and organizations, this year's campaign will include Party history learning and education, children's safety publicity and education on the prevention of drowning and traffic accidents, talents shows, parent-child games, legal publicity and lectures on mental health and other child care services to bring warmth and care to children and help them spend a safety and happy vacation.
The 29th National Youth Patriotism Reading and Education Activity was also launched at the ceremony. Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, conferred a flag on the organizing committee of the activity and representatives of teachers and students.
Since 1993, 28 sessions of the National Youth Patriotism Reading and Education Activity have been held. Through a variety of reading and social practice activities, the activity has attracted the participation of more than 800 million youths.
